GETTING HERE
DOONIFEST will take place indoors at The Old School House Venue which is located on Blackburn Lane in Barnsley S75 2BA.
People attending the festival are politely asked to preferably park in the hospital car-park across the street on the corner of Summer Lane/Pogmoor Road S752ET - it is just across the road and will cost £6.90 for 24 hours (other pricing is here). There is road-side parking, but beware double yellows, and our local traffic warden who is very savvy and a bit of a git.
Please note:
On the day of the festival, the small car-park at the venue is being used exclusively for bands loading and unloading equipment and for the Catering Van (booked by the venue) that will be supplying food for people throughout both Doonifest Eve & Doonifest.
Please DO NOT try to park in the venue car-park!
DIRECTIONS:
For SAT NAVs use S752ET (the post code closest to the hospital carpark)
The venue is approximately 1.5 miles from the M1 Junction 37
From M1 Northbound:
Exit the M1 at Junction 37
On the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Dodworth Rd/A628 0.4 mi
From M1 Southbound:
Exit the M1 at Junction 37
On the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Dodworth Rd/A628 0.4 mi
THEN FOR EVERYONE…
At the crossroads/traffic lights turn left onto Pogmoor Rd 0.8 mi
Follow Pogmoor Road (it will bend to the right, keep going past the Tom Treddlehoyle pub)
Near Barnsley General Hospital, the large hospital car park that we recommend as the best place to park (it's nearest to the venue and you can pay for reasonably priced 24 hour parking) is on the right.
FROM THE HOSPITAL CAR-PARK ON FOOT
Exit the carpark via the side nearest Summer Lane (see map and satellite image) Turn right onto Summer Lane, the rear entrance to the venue is on the left approx. 100 metres down the hill, or walk past the venue and turn left onto Blackburn Lane to enter from the front.
We know that a lot of you are staying at the Premier Inn on Sackville Street. Those people should take a look at further instructions below.
PREMIER INN PEOPLE
For those of you staying at the Premier Inn on Sackville Street, we highly recommend that if you are able to, to leave your vehicles parked there and travel to the venue on foot. It is, according to Google, approximately 10 minutes walk.
On exiting the Premier Inn onto Sackville Street, turn left and then take the first left down the steep hill of Fitzwilliam Street (TOP TIP: if you wish to avoid this at the end of the night you can walk back via Gawber Road!). At the bottom of Fitzwilliam Street turn right and follow Summer Lane for approx. 600 yards. The rear entrance to the venue is on Summer Lane, and the front entrance can be reached by turning right onto Blackburn Lane.
TAXIS
For those of you who wish to taxi back afterwards, here are a few local numbers. On both nights, the final act will finish at around 11pm, so we recommend that you book for 11.30pm.
We also recommend you book in advance as they get very busy on a Friday and Saturday neet in Tarn!
